Luc Ponet
Drs. Luc Ponet is professor of organ at Leuven University College of Arts – campus Lemmens, titular organist of the basilica in Tongeren, organist-in-residence of Alden Biesen Castle and city organist of Leuven. Since ‘Leuven Orgelstad’ is a member of ECHO, the network of European Cities of Historical Organs, prof. Ponet is also one of the artistic directors of ECHO. He established the Bach Academy Alden Biesen - choir and orchestra on period instruments,
and has been asked to become the artistic director of the Intra Muros Festival in Alden Biesen castle, which is the European Cultural and Conference Centre of the Flemish Community.
One of Belgium’s leading organists, prof. Ponet devotes part of his time to the organ as a performer and as a teacher. He performs as a soloist in Belgium and abroad: in Europe, the United States, South America, Mexico, The Philippines, Australia, Russia and Japan. His repertoire ranges from early music (17th and 18th century) to contemporary music and improvisation. He has made several recordings. These recordings have received praising reviews.
