ANDREA MARCON




Conductor, organist, harpsichordist recognized as one of the foremost specialists and performers of early music. Professor of harpsichord, organ and interpretation at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In 1986 he won first prize in the organ competition in Innsbruck, and on harpsichord he won first prize in Bologna in 1991. He conceived in 1989 the International Organ Festival “Cittŕ di Treviso” and in 1996 the ECHO European partnership. In 1997, Mr. Marcon founded the Venice Baroque Orchestra performing throughout Europe, Japan and USA. Most recently, Mr. Marcon led the orchestra in highly acclaimed debut performances in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Vienna and Berlin, Chatelet Paris, Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall Proms in London, Kioy Hall Tokyio and Carnegie Hall New York . As guest conductor Mr. Marcon also led the West Deutsche Rundfunk Simphony Orchester in Koeln, the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Granada City Orchestra. Mr. Marcon’s numerous recordings have received extraordinary praise and many have won awards, including the Diapason D’Or, the Vivaldi Award of the Cini Foundation, Germany’s Echo Award and, four times, the Deutschen Schallplatten Kritik prize. He has served as a judge of several international organ competitions, including those of Amsterdam/Alkmaar, Dublin, Nuremberg, Bruges, Hamburg NDR, Toulouse and Tokyo Musashino.


ROBERTO ANTONELLO





Roberto Antonello (1967) graduated in Organ and Organ Composition (with praise), in Choral Music and Choir Conducting, full marks at Bologna University with a final dissertation on Cesar Franck’s Trois Chorals. In 1993, studying with D. Roth, he graduated with Premier Prix d’Excellence at CNM in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Paris).

In addition, he has undertaken masterclasses with: K. Schnorr, M. Radulescu, H. Vogel, H. Davidsson, M. Chapuis, and J. Boyer. He won national and international Organ Competition prizes from 1987 to 2000, among them the 2nd Interpretation Prize at the XVII International Organ Competition Grand Prix de Chartres 2000 (the only Italian admitted to the final round in the 40 year history of the competition).

He has performed in the greatest Festivals and Concert Series in many Italian cities, EU, Switzerland, Croatia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, and Canada. He recorded in CD German Romantic organ works, the complete C. Franck’s organ works (first recording by an Italian performer, 3CD, FAGOTT Orgelverlag) and G. Viozzi’s ones (1912-1984, first world recording and score publishing), pieces by G. Morandi in first world recording and contemporary pieces.

Active as musicologist, he edited the Vespri di S. Ignacio and Misa a San Ignacio (Ed. Pizzicato) by D. Zipoli and Principia seu Elementa ad bene Pulsandum Organum et Cimbalum (Ed. Missions Prokur - Armelin), coming from the 18th century South American Jesuit missions.

He is giving seminars and masterclasses on several topics concerning organ literature and interpretation for a number of Italian Conservatories and music associations. He was invited as visiting tutor and lecturer to the Edinburgh Organ Academy (Ian Tomlin School of Music - Napier University) and to the Göteborg International Organ Academy (School of Music - Göteborg University).

Moreover, he has been juror in a number of national and international competitions (Toulouse, Opava, Borca di Cadore, Viterbo...). In 1994, following success in the national competition for Organ Teachers at the Conservatories, he was appointed, in the same year, titular teacher for Organ and Organ Composition: he is teaching at "Pedrollo" Conservatory in Vicenza, where he is also Head of Organ Studies since 2005.
