MAURIZIO CROCI
Maurizio Croci was born in Varese (Italy) in 1970. He holds diplomas in organ, composition and in harpsichord studies from the colleges of music of Milan and Trent (Italy) and spent four years at the Schola Cantorum in Basle (Switzerland) on advanced courses in organ and harpsichord under Jean-Claude Zehnder and Andrea Marcon.
He also graduated in musicology at Fribourg University in Switzerland under Prof. Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini.
Prize-Winner of the Paul Hofhaimer international competition in Innsbruck (Austria, 1998), Mr. Croci has concertized throughout Europe and Japan, performed J.S. Bach’s complete organ works in Berne (Switzerland) to mark the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death and recorded CD(Frescobaldi: Il viaggio nelle Fiandre, Tactus, 2002; The Andreas Bach Book, Stradivarius, 2004; G. F. Kauffmann, Stradivarius, 2005), for radio and television.
Mr. Croci gives Masterclasses on early keyboard music, advises on the restoration of historic organs and on the construction of new instruments and has published a number of articles on musicology. In 2005 he seated in the jury of the “Xavier Darasse” International Organ Competition in Toulouse (France).
Mr. Croci is currently working as Organ Professor at the Musikhochschule Fribourg (Switzerland), Harpsichord and Organ Professor at the Early music department of the Accademia internazionale della Musica in Milan (Italy), head organist at the Basilica of the Holy Trinity in Berne and artistic director of the Académie d’Orgue de Fribourg.
